How does this stitch regulator work exactly?

It has an "eye" (laser) which counts the threads in the fabric you are stitching over. It then makes you stitch length cover the same number of threads...regulates your stitch length. I have to say that it makes the prettiest stitches.

Remember that a longarm machine moves and the fabric stays still. It's relatively easy to make a stitch regulator that senses the machine's movement, harder to make one that senses the fabric movement.

Stitch Regulator is a patented name. There are other versions like fabric movers.

I have the Bernina 440 QEE and it is wonderful. I don't think any other mfg has the BSR. You can't buy it for any machine because the machine has to have the BSR hook up built in to it.

I went to a show today and actually got to try out a Bernina 440 with the stitch regulator. Wow... not much else I can say, (big sigh) ...just wow!

I'm curious how much they are out your area. In the north east they go for $3,300.
