Bernina sewers: Machine applique foot
I was reading about the Bernina #23 applique foot (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sq92Ded4oZo). I'm wondering if it a necessary tool for wool and cotton applique.
What foot do you use on your Bernina for applique? Thanks! j. |
I use #20 for cotton applique. It's an open toe foot. When I use it, I move the needle all the way to the left or right so I can "ride" the inside edge of the foot along the edge of the applique. I don't do wool applique by machine, so not sure about the foot to use for that.

I also use the #20 foot for my Bernina 1230. Not sure if the #23 is even available for my machine.
I will say that my machine applique with my older machine and the #20 foot generally looks better than that demo'd in this Youtube video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yq83fUBT-lU |
I feel like I can see better with the #20 foot because it's wide open. With the #23 you have to look through the plastic.

I have an older Bernina and I also use the #20 foot for the same reasons already stated. It's easy to see what I'm doing.
I don't do wool applique so I don't know about that. |
I always use my foot 20 , I do lots of applique . Cathy

Another vote for #20 . I like the clear veiw it gives me for cotton applique.

Ditto on the number 20 foot. I like to see what I am doing while stitching.

I use the #20 foot, the foot you mention is too new for my 1031.

I am also a fan of the #20 foot. I have used it on all three of my Berninas. I do mostly appliqué with cotton, but I am certain that wool would not be a problem.
