Bernina Stitch Regulator

I've noticed that it's not easy to find out how much Bernina's are. Is there a secret to finding the best deal? Are there any other home machines that have Stitch regulators without going to a LA? I'm drooling over the 8series but they're too expensive. What's the next best thing?

Typically the vendors at big quilt shows are not shy about telling your their prices, and they are usually good deals. What I did was get a written quote from one of them, and then my local Bernina dealer (who has an excellent reputation for service) matched it. I got the 440, but that was years ago. I do love the BSR. No one else has anything like it, unless you get a longarm.

I have a Bernina Artista 200. I bought a stitch regulator for it when the BSR came out. Perhaps you could get a used Bernina with a BSR that would not be as expensive as the 820 or 830. I have quilted an oversized king size quilt on my 200. I cut the batting in thirds and had no problem using my small machine. If you do get a used Bernina, get it from a dealer. If I remember correctly, the BSR was around $1,000 when I purchased it about 7 years ago.

Have you looked at the 530? They have the BSR and are not as costly as the Series 8. If I was you I would wait until the series 7 come out later this year (might be just what your are looking for). Have no idea what they will look like and what comes with it, just heard that they are coming out soon. By the way the Series 8 run over 10K.

I have a 630 with the BSR. I love my machine. I used the BSR to quilt 3 kids quilts yesterday. Have one more to do this evening. They are expensive but very well made machines. I bought mine on e-Bay about 6 years ago. Got a great deal on it and it only had a few hours of sewing and no embroidery time on it. the BSR itself is over $900.

Thanks a bunch! Looks like we'll find out about the new 7 series in July. Appreciate the heads up, this is great!

I have a Bernina with the stitch regulator and I love it. They are more expensive but well worth it. I know I would not be able to quilt like I do if I did not have the BSR.
