Does anyone have an opinion or experience with this machine? How much did it cost new? Does it take the new feet? Thanks so much.

I have this machine and love it!! It's the Quilter's Edition.
I bought it new in 2000 for I think 1800.00
Now you can get that one much cheaper. It's a great machine. Never had a problem at all.
I don't know about the feet. I bought all of them in the first 2 years of having mine.

Several of my friends have Bernina's and we all swear by them! :thumbup:

I am a Bernina girl through and through. My first machine was a 150QE and came with the quilting feet including the walking foot. I've updated along the way adding embroidery machine only then machines that could sew and embroider. Still use my 150QE on a regular basis for piecing. She's a workhorse. I paid somewhere between 1500-1700 for her but that was many years ago.

I purchased mine used for just under $1000 about 5 years ago so machine is about 10 years old now. It's the only machine I have to sew on and I sew a lot. As far as I know I can by any new foot I want for it--love the 1/4" foot for pieceing.

I paid $1,500 in 2000 but I bought the floor model. Plus I had a trade-in against the price as well so I think I only brought about $1,200 cash to the table.

It came with the case and original box, and a ton of feet, including a walking foot. The Bernina dealer was just the straightest, greatest guy to deal with. I was sorry when he closed up shop and moved away. He gave me 50% off on a bunch of additional special Bernina feet (like the the circle thingie).

As for newer feet, it fits the feet made for it. For instance, the #57 came out way after this series of machines, but it still fit. I
don't see Bernina abandoning that anytime in the immediate future. And I can't even use all the feet I've got now. ;-) ;-)

It's made over 80 quilts in the last decade, and I really don't feel I've outgrown it yet.

I don't do embroidery, so I'm not missing out there. Yeah, I'd love a BSR. And a thread cutter. And a needle threader. But it ain't killing me not having them. If that changes in the future, then I'll revisit the issue.

I'd probably buy a longarm before I shelled out for an 820.

I also have this machine. It is my favorite sewing machine out of my three Bernina's. It was used when I bought it in 2008. Recently though, I went to turn it on and nothing. I'm taking it in for repair, but I think it may be the computer board. Will keep you posted.

I found the sales receipt yesterday and I paid 1500.00 + tax for it.
I don't know why I thought I paid more. :)
Still cleaning out my sewing room!! LOL

Omg, yes! It's a wonderful machine. I've never had anything but servicing for mine.
