What a beautiful story and what a wonderful thoughtful idea for the quilt you made for them. If you had given them a million dollars it couldn't have meant more to them. What a treasure. It sounds soooooo beautiful, any chance you can get a picture of it? I'm sure everyone here would love to see it. You are a dear angel for making such a meaningful gift. What else could be better than a quilt...................................Hurray for you and the lucky couple.

Lostn51 05-22-2011 05:44 PM

That was probably the best compliment anyone could ever hope to have from a quilt that was gifted. And I know that they will always cherish it no matter how you felt about the quilting. Remember God is the only one that is perfect!

I have a slightly similar story to tell. A dear friend of mine, Virginia, contacted lung cancer. Since she was always cold I used some crumb blocks I had made and made a throw for her. She loved it and spent a lot of time talking about all the tiny pieces. She took it with her when she went for her treatments and showed it to the doctors and nurses. Alas, the treatments did not work, and she died. When I went to her funeral, I saw her quilt displayed among the floral arrangements. Her daughter told me how Virginia had prized her quilt.

It is so great just to know how appreciated a quilt can be
to someone. It makes all the work worthwhile.

So sorry that your friend has passed.
