Best cotton thread for tying a quilt?

Hi there,
I'm making a commissioned quilt and my customer asked me to tie it. I understand that he loves the look. The fun of doing commissioned quilt is to try something new :-). Since it's a queen size, I was thinking of making some stabilizing stitches on my longarm before tying it. What cotton thread should I use to make the ties?
Many thanks!

Pearle cotton floss. Our sewing group generally uses 5 wt for quilt ties, I've used 8 wt & 12 wt but must admit the 5 looks good & is easiest to tie, stays tight.

Be sure to use a surgeon's knot to tie. Here is an explanation

When I took a QIAD course years ago, we tied them with embroidery floss (all six strands).
Worked fine, and went through many washings, with no problems.
As mentioned, just be sure you use the right type of a knot, to prevent problems.

My Mom used carpet warp.

At a Mennonite Quilt store we used Aunt Martha, crochet thread. Made hundreds a year to send overseas when disaster happened.

I have used the embroidery floss (all six strands - I have also mixed floss with colors in the quilt), actually I have used all of the items above - including yarn. The yarn is still working well 30 years and counting.
