I'm another who likes Ginghers - they're great scissors and who doesn't love a classy set of bright chrome scissors? But for actually using them for long periods of time, for me it's Kai all the way.
The links here - that's QB. They're apparently not making enough off of banner ads, so now we get ads forced into our posts with the hope we'll not realize it's an ad and click on it and earn them some change. Another reminder that if you're not paying for something, you're what's being sold. |
my favorite pair re MUNDIAL serrarated edge. they grab the fabric just enough not to loose it perfect clean cuts. you only can tell it's serrarted when you run your nail over it. they are the best.

If you shop JOANN's, watch for a sale. I bought my Ginghers for half price, which was worth it.

Honestly, I bought a pair of titanium blade sewing scissors made by Westcott, at Walmart. They come with a key to tighten them as they work loose over time, and you can adjust them your self so the pressure is what you need for comfort. They have 7-8" blades, and are razor sharp. I have been using them about three years and still love them. The handle is off set. I think I paid about $15.

I couldn't put it any better. That said, I love my Gingher's. I bought them at JAF with a coupon. They come with lifetime free sharpening -- just pay shipping. When I get them back, they've been sharpened, re-tooled & oiled and look pretty much as good as the day I bought them. However, I really like having a weightier scissors. I don't have arthritis in my hands, so a heavier scissor gives me straighter results. I'm sure at some point I will appreciate all the lighter weight options out there, but until then I'm sticking with my Gingher's.

Thanks! I will probably threaten my family too! Will have to write 'fabric only' on them!
