The best gift I ever had

I am always very spoiled at Christmas but this year was my first quilting year. I made stockings for 10 person in my family and 4 went to my son and his family.
Now The best gift ever was from my Son who is not expressive at all, called me and say Wow Mom are you crazy that is too much the stockings are very 'nice' and Veronique (his wife) was all choked up when she saw them.

Yesterday, my Daughter called me and add that my Son also called my EX (his Father) and told him how magnificent they were all embroidered with their name on blablabla he praised them endlessly. I was so touched that my son and family were so very touched by these. And I have to admit, talking this way to my EX about something I made for them got my pride racing to the top way way high LOLOL

Feels so good and encourage me to continue quilting!

That is so wonderful your family appreciated your hard work. Merry Christmas!

Awesome! Merry Christmas :-)

coldquilter 12-26-2011 06:24 AM

I just love when people get that excited over stuff we make. Makes you feel so good. I gave homemade scrubbies and dishclothes to the girls in the family and one told me last night that her daughter thought it was too pretty to use. That's why we do what we do!!! So glad you had that reaction.

sharon b 12-26-2011 06:28 AM

Isn't that the best feeling :)

JenelTX 12-26-2011 06:55 AM

Awwww, that's so nice! Somehow, his enthusiasm means even more because you heard about it from someone else. That way, you know it's completely genuine. That must've really warmed your heart.

What great gifts and how wonderful to hear how much your son and his wife appreciated the effort and love that went into them! Things like that do encourage us to continue to do what we do.

valleyquiltermo 12-26-2011 07:02 AM

Thats just wonderful, You should be sew proud and please keep up the good work. You have a family who enjoys what you make as much as you enjoy making it for them. That is rare. And post some pics for us as well.

That is wonderful. I have to share a little something one of my grandsons said to his mother. This is a grandson that I have only seen a few times. He is now 13 years old. It is my husbands sons child - we don't get to see them very often. A long story and I won't even go there.
Anyway, I feel that when I make something for grandkids, they all get what I am making. There are 9 in all. I made placemats this year for the kids. They are snowman faces and I embroidered their names on them. In the past I made pillowcases for different occasions and other goodies. Well, I sent them to the kids before Chirstmas along with a card and some cash.
Well, their Mother and I chat through Facebook. She told me that Trey said that she should make a cabinet to put all the things that I have made in it. That way, he could look at them all year, not just for the season or holiday. When I read that, it brought tears to my eyes. It makes me feel so good that he thinks that much of what I have made and sent to him.
Just had to share this.

I also made a couple of aprons that were very appreciated

Christine27 12-28-2011 06:31 AM

Aw!! I predict more handmade gifts in their future! It's so nice when your efforts are appreciated!

WisWis 12-28-2011 06:45 AM

Glad all your work was appreciated by your family.
Definitely keep on quilting.

Pattycakes 12-28-2011 09:43 AM

That is totally awesome, next year you should shoot for Christmas table runner with matching placemats and a tree skirt. That is my plan for next years Christmas gifts for nieces, nephews and my children. And don't forget your tag. This will help them remember the love you put into making them for them.

Congradulations on making a memory for you children and grandchildren that will last their life time.

OKLAHOMA PEACH 12-28-2011 10:42 AM

Jammin' Jane 12-28-2011 10:58 AM

That is so wonderful!

weatheread 12-28-2011 11:01 AM

It is always special when it is made with love and comes from the heart

RDM 12-28-2011 11:23 AM

Sounds like you created numerous beautiful stockings fully deserving of praise. Best part is the joy they brought to your family ones and then the love and appreciation returned to you. The best gifts money cannot buy. Did you take any photos you could share with the board?

starshine 12-28-2011 11:38 AM

It's wonderful to get such great feedback.

Cookie68 12-28-2011 02:26 PM

That is about the best Christmas present to get....someone's happiness and enthusiasm for a handmade gift. I am sure they will be treasured every year they use them. I would rather have that than any kind of gift a person could just buy in a store. Congrats on job well done!

psychonurse 12-28-2011 05:47 PM

That is sew wonderful. What love it shows to the one who made it and received it. You are blessed.
