The best kind of find is when you discover a box you packed almost 5 years ago with all of your long lost items for sewing which include 20 years worth of collecting patches from all your travels, Your DMIL original mini-crochet needles that she made hundreds of doilies and gifts with, all of your vintage button collection, your hand-quilting metal thingamajig that makes your finger not hurt when you weave the needle in and out, hundreds of brand new sewing needles of every kind, all of your metal snaps, hook-n-eyes and all the rest of those goodies and all the velcro you have needed for the past year for your projects. It was a very good day indeed.

Far out!

Good for you! I love when this happens. I am sorting through years of patterns, books and magazines and have located these hidden treasures as well as sewing supplies.

I have had similar finds although not after 5 years. I love it when the lost is found!

grugirl 03-15-2011 03:21 PM

I feel like dancing around the room throwing fabric up into the air and singing a little song. I just don't want to refold the fabric. LOL

Robin57 03-15-2011 03:28 PM

That is so much fun!!!

craftybear 03-15-2011 03:29 PM

lol....maybe you could just throw a little bit of fabric around while you dance!!! Glad you found it all. I haven't moved in a long time, but I always lost boxes with every move. They never showed up...huh...someone got my junk...haha.

We move back and forth from Florida to Michigan every year and I am always loosing things thinking I left them one place or the other and can do a happy dance when I find them.

That makes my heart smile when I hear that CakeBaker.
It is like Xmas everyday I open another box. I finally at the end after 5 long years and a 1800 mile move from Alaska. Wow.. did I bring a lot of stuff. I still dwell on one piece of fabric I sold when sold half of my stash in Alaska before I left. I know I should have kept it. LOL

fred singer 03-15-2011 05:03 PM

cakebaker 03-15-2011 05:05 PM

Too bad you had to get rid of some of your stash, I sure haul a lot of mine back and forth, hubby thinks we are going to need a bigger truck. LOL.

I couldn't imagine doing that. I also brought 38 boxes of teaching materials that I am now selling since changing careers. That has been an undertaking going through all of that.

CarrieAnne 03-15-2011 05:22 PM

Great find!

cakebaker 03-15-2011 05:40 PM

Wow I can't imagine 38 boxes. Good luck.

OneMoreQuilt 03-15-2011 06:24 PM

Great day.

grugirl 03-15-2011 06:45 PM

Thanks Cake, I have opened every box and already sold over 18 boxes of it. I just cannot wait for the rest to go. I want my shed back. It is totally finished off and a perfect Personal Space. It will become my woodcarving shop. I already have two solid wood benches in there and some storage shelves. I just need the other 20 boxes of teaching materials to go bye bye

roseOfsharon 03-15-2011 06:47 PM

Now that box must of been screaming Find Me! Find Me! and you did! Happy to hear the box held so many wonderful things!

littlehud 03-16-2011 08:19 AM

I love it when that happens.

msariano 03-16-2011 08:25 AM

I have recently moved and am unpacking boxes I had in my garage for 8 years. I am so overwhelmed-- with a plastic drawer full of zippers, a stash of colored velcro, a banker's size box full of lace from my Mom's sewing business, UFO's, calico bought in the 70's--it goes on and on. Sometimes lost boxes are a good thing.!

sawsan 03-16-2011 08:29 AM

It's like you safe hundreds or more, understand your feelings

quilting cat 03-16-2011 09:29 AM

Sounds like fun! :D
Hope none of the metal findings or needles were corroded!

Ilovemydogs 03-16-2011 10:03 AM

Very cool!!!

Actually Cat, nothing was. When I packed every box from Alaska, I put a black trash bag in each one before I packed items in them. I only broke one item and nothing has been ruined. This out of 2- 26 foot U-hauls.
I feel pretty fortunate.

Mariposa 03-16-2011 05:05 PM

Congrats on finding your goodies! :) I too have a few things that are MIA, and await their "surfacing"!
