Best paper for paper piecing?
 

Hi,

What is the best paper for piecing - I have heard computer paper, freezer paper, plain newsprint... I would like to give it a try - but not sure what is the best to use.

I just use the regular ordinary paper that I have in my printer.
Nothing special.

The real trick to know, is to shorten your stitching way down.
I use 1.0 !

At the start, don't let it frustrate you ... give yourself some space to get the feel for it.
Soon enough, you will be hooked on it!

I just made a few of these squares and then went to something "real"!

Before, during and after, I read and watched anything I found about PPing.
I found so many different techniques from different people.
I took a bit from each .... and developed what worked best for me.

You can do it!!! ........... now go and make your first! :)

Freezer paper is used for a different kind of PP where you fold the paper back and stitch next to the fold, not through the paper. The best paper is vellum paper but it is spendy. I have successfully used newsprint type paper and regular old copy paper.

I buy the cheapest copy paper they have at office depot. It goes thru the printer, but is pretty easy to pull off if you use a short stitch like QuiltE says. I'm doing a PP project now. It always takes me a little while to get used to it when I haven't done it for a while.

I like vellum

I use a vellum type as well. It is very thin. I don't remember where I got it though. It was a long time ago.

The thinnest paper that will go through your printer. I bought the Carol Doake paper, it was great but expensive. Now I just use copy paper.
