Best seam ripper/unpicker..?
 

Guess what I have been mostly doing recently, lol!

So, recommendations, please! What's the best (in my mind, sharpest, pointiest point)? I had a wonderful Gutermann branded one that came with my machine many moons ago, but none of the ones I've been able to buy have lived up to it...

I like the clover with the round handle, other handles snap off for me and break
I take the pockets of jeans for my jean quilts because I sew them with different colors for my jean quilts

New ones tend to be nice & sharp-- they do dull with use. The best one is the one that is comfortable in Your hand and works best for you.

[ATTACH=CONFIG]535563[/ATTACH]I like to use a sharp little pair of thread snips. I put the point under every 3 or 4 stitch on one side and snip. I pull the thread on the under side after snipping and the thread comes tight off. They look like this

I haven't used a seam ripper in years--not since I found the snips that Tartan shows, found them many moons ago.

huh, never thought of using the snips for that. I'm going to have to give them a shot, otherwise, I also like the clover brand and a scalpel like ripper that I use for paper pieced unsewing. It's actually an exacto knife with a curved blade.

I have used the same brass seam ripper for over 30 years. It is super sharp & has a nice small point.

I have a F&P seam ripper since it fits my hand the best. I usually choose what side to clip on (prefer the side if being discarded). I clip every 5 to 6 threads and then the other side pulls out so nicely.

I use a battery power one and love it. Also love one I got at my LQS that has what looks like an eraser on the end. It takes all the threads away in a flash. Now though I am very interested in those snips. I have never seen them. Where do you find them?

luvstoquilt-you CAN find them at some fabric/quilt stores, for what I think is a ridiculous price, but I get mine here:http://www.mygoodscissors.com/ThreadNippers.htm. I have also gotten them at WaWak.com, but they didn't seem to last like that ones I got at the above site. They looked the same, but within 6 months they were dull, whereas the one that was a couple of years old, was still sharp. If you're questioning WHY I have so many, I keep a bag with projects in the car, and a couple in the sewing room. LOL
