Best size of material to keep ?

I am cleaning out my sewing room. I have way too much of everything and I know I have reached my limit. I will be having a yard sale for quilters and have decided to keep something out of the fabric for myself. I was thinking of cutting one strip of 6 inches across the width of the fabric and keeping that for myself. Of course, this is only fabric I do not want, but I do love scrap quilts and I think this will do the trick. At first I thought jelly row strips of 2.5 inches would do it and then I thought no, I might need HST in the quilts and I don't want to be stingy with myself. So will 6 inches of fabric do the trick ?

how about a 10"? you can make jelly rolls, charms or layercakes with them. whatever suits your fancy at the time.

I have a nice size stash with everything about 2 yards on the mini bolts and I can store a lot of fabric that way. I think I would do mini bolts and the see what I wanted to get rid of. Maybe make up some of your own jelly rolls as well?

It seems that I usually make 8" blocks, so I would go for 9". If you have a common block size, go for that, but add an inch so you can cut HSTs.

It's your fabric. Do whatever you want to do. I'd be saving 99.9% of it if it were me. Don't stress over it. It's only fun if you decide it's fun. Wish I were in St. Louis. I'd be there.

If you don't care for it, why keep any of it?

Then you'll just have those strips to try to store somehow.

When are you having your garage sale? It might be an interesting road trip for me.

or donate it to a guild for Linus Projects. I mean if you really don't want it, why go through the hastle of trying to decide what to cut up and how big/small.

if it's fabric i don't like/want, i wouldn't save more than the 6"
