I started planning cutting and making 'another' great nephew's baby quilt and I confess I am not great at math; anyway I needed 8 pinwwheel squares using white and 2 blue prints. Realized when I finished cutting and was pinning together I had enough for 16 squares. Oh well i'll save the extra 8 sure I can find something to use them for later.....

LOL been there and done that... on my last quilt I ended up cutting double of one fabrics pieces  atleast the pieces were a common block component and I can easily reuse them LOL

I do that all the time. Once, while recuperating from back surgery I cut all my purples for a scrappy quilt and then started sewing blocks. When I finally looked at the pattern I had enough made for two queen quilts! I still have the extra blocks

I always do that. I figure like you too much is better then not enough. So I just save them for a crazy quilt.

You are not alone. Better to have too many, than to be one short. I always buy extra fabric...just in case..and it has saved me more than once. ;)

or join the doll quilt swap and make a miniature! or a pillow cover....

well after I started sewing I realized i had figured wrong--again. I wanted 8in pinwheel blocks got 16 in pinwheel blocks......so I am totally changing the plan no pinwheels on this one maybe next one with the left overs...
|
I have done that same thing. You are right, better more than not enough. I'll tell myself that the next time I do it. ( and I know I will )
