I quilt my own pieces on my Janome 3128...so far i have only done sid. Is there a step beyond this? Thanks for your help.

I like to use my decorative stitches along the seam lines as well, especially on baby quilts--it makes a nice secondary pattern on the back.

Try straight lines going diagonally like SID so you are making triangles in your pattern. From there, you can graduate with practice to copying whatever design is on a panel quilt, then get more fancy with stipple (small first, then large). That's how I'm learning to FMQ and it really helps to PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE.

It's funny how when you practice, everything comes out great, then put your project on the machine and YIKES you think you never practiced before! Don't get discouraged with the simple stuff, because it really does help to be slow about progressing in complexity.

Thanks so much. I want to keep trying more and more things.
