I do this method, but slightly different folds - after the first fold, (because I am us WOF) I fold both side of the triangle to the middle, then proceed. This results in being able to cut longer strips and fewer joining seams. I never thought to cut the ends at a 90 degree angle, which would make this so much faster than trying to cut 45 degree angles on a lol the ends and tiring to sew them that way. I only use bias binding. (for the extra durability and less fussy for me) so I cut lots of it this way, but there is always something new to learn.

i cut mine straight. if i need bias, as I will for my next quilt with the scalloped edges, i cut a 45 degree and keep cutting against that line.

I'm too impatient to do this tube thing. However, I think it way make Bargello easier. For bias, I just cut the amount I need for binding on the bias and piece the strips together
