The Big Barn in Pennsylvania

Hi Everyone

My friends and I are going to the AQS quilt show in Lancaster Pennsylvania next week. It is quite a drive, about 8 hours from Ottawa, Ontario Canada. I was told that there is quite a quilt store called the Big Barn that opens only during the Show and the prices are incredible. Would anyone know where to find this Big Barn store?

Thanks.

Hopefully you are staying for a few days. Lancaster has alot of quilt shops that are a must. All of them close by 5pm daily and are not open on Sundays. Sauders, Zooks, Weavers, Obies, Burkholders are a few. I'm not sure about the Big Barn though.

I hope you have a great time! Someday I'll get there. I have only been to Lancaster once, and at the time I was NOT a quilter!!!!! Have been wanting get back since. The group of quilting gals I quilt with are talking about doing a Lancaster trip next year so we have time to plan it. Probably won't go in March as one of the gals is a teacher and we want to do it when she is either on vacation or out for the summer.

I went on a trip there a few years ago - what a fantastic experience - all the prices are really low compared to here in the UK - fortunately I booked extra baggage allowance!!!!

I go to Lancaster several times a year, but this is my first time going to the shows. I've never heard of the Big Barn, but now I'll just have to follow this post so I can get the scoop!

There are 3 shows in Lancaster: AQS (convention center), Lancaster Quilt Show (Continental Inn, free admission, about 4miles from the convention center), and The Host Hotel Quilt Show (across the street from the Continental Inn). Come say hello and watch my demos at the Continental Inn. I will be in the booth for Maine-ly Sewing.

I live in the area, and think you might be referring to "Weaver's Dry Goods, 108 W. Brubaker Valley Road, Lititz PA 17543
Phone: 717-627-1724. It's a nice shop with lots of fabric and a sale room. They also have a barn in the back which is only open once in awhile. Give them a call to find out if it's open during the show. If so, I think this is the place you've heard of.

I skipped Weaver's the past few times I've gone to Lancaster. I heard the owner fussing the ladies that work there for cutting a tiny bit more than requested. He seemed much more concerned about a few cents of fabric being given away for free than he did about the fact that he was correcting them for this right in front of me and a few other ladies in the shop. Needless to say, when it was time for them to cut for me, I watched like a hawk. I was afraid they would cut me short since they were shaken by his lecture.

I might give them another try for the barn sale though.

i believe the prior post was right, its weaver's. i didnt find the fabric great. prices were good. they are open 3rd weekend of the month, i believe. but as mentioned, call before you go. i'd rather go to martin's. 3.79 flat fold and there are loads and loads of fabric. and a nice quality.
