big block patterns

Does anyone have a favorite pattern for using big blocks to hightlight a favorite fabric? It needs to be pretty easy!

Warm Wishes. I make the center square 8.5" square. Also the BQ patterns from Maple Island:

The BQ pattern by Maple Island Quilts is my choice for a focus fabric like that.

Try: www.quilterscache.com

On the selections on the list below in small print, select "Quilt blocks galore" - it will then give you the option to select by the finished block size. Each has examples, and the patterns are free, however, donations are accepted. Have fun --

The BQ pattern is one of a series of patterns by Maple Island Quilts. I've made two so far, and they are fun to make and quilt. Enjoy.

Actually the videos show how to make the BQ quilts. Those are variations of the pattern. Love the video.

I am just finishing up a similar quilt from this pattern--but the solid squares are 9 patches from a swap. I am very pleased with it. By using the same fabrics (navy blue & light blue) for the other blocks, all the various 2.5" blocks in the 9 patches are calmed down to make a very nice quilt top.

I will be starting a 10" square quilt. I am going to use the 10"s as a base and then applique on them. I have been wanting to do this for a year or two. In between doing the things for my family, I have managed to get my squares cut. I am now finishing up a project for another event. I cannot wait till I am done with it. Don't get me wrong, I love doing the little things for friends and family, but this month its my turn. I have been quilting for the past 4 years and still don't have one on my bed.
