Hi all,
I promised as soon as I ask this going back to Quilting today, Yes I spend too much time here  But really like hanging out with you all, :-D  .

Would you rather have a completed project with big Borders or a UFO (unfinished object) ??? Haven't noticed this topic but am sure its been ask. :-D

I hate to see a quilt with big borders put on just to make it BIG

How big is it now and how big do you want it to be?

If you are needing borders that are of significant size, I'd think you might want to do two or three of varying sizes to make it look intentional rather than an attempt to quickly make it bigger. KWIM?

I don't like having UFO's. So even if I didn't want the big borders, I might do them just to have a finished object, and then maybe I'd give it to charity.

But multiple smaller frames might look better.

I'd leave it as a UFO before I would put a big border on it. It has to be right or I don't want it finished. It is a pride thing for me.

Like how big?

Sewing border strips together and adding them on as one doesn't take that much longer than adding on one big one

Just thought I'd check in,
Nothing too crazy with the size, one 12 inch no, but 3 + 6 + 4 more of a framing to get it out of the ufo pile, to at least a nap or twin size. Hate to waste, and at one time or another the fabric was something that had to have hit me as right, but will hold fabric with the project to come back to, and then the temptation is great, to pull out and use for somthing completely different and end up with a UFO that has no close matches.

I'm with you. If you need to add borders just to make it big you should put it back away until you're ready to complete it. Or if it's pressing and you need to finish it for gifting it, I would rather see a 'round robin' type of border put on, like a wide HST and a couple of frames. I also like when I see a border that has a smaller block in between narrow frame borders.

Maybe ... could we see a pic of the quilt?
