Big Stitch Quilting
Can you achieve big stitch Quilting on a Pfaff Expression Sewing Machine and if you can, what serving do you use?

I thought big stitch quilting was done by hand. I suppose you could use a longer machine stitch but it wouldn’t be as durable in my opinion. I’ll be interest to see what others say.

I would prefer the FMQ I do with a smaller stitch. I make quilts mostly for kids and think a smaller stitch is less likely to break.
|
Ive only done big stitch quilting by hand, I think it’s called “Cave Man Quilting”

A sashiko machine would look a lot like big stitch.
|
I was wanting to try it on a Table Runner.
|
Just remember - too big could be "toe catchers"!
|
I am not familiar with your model of machine but I do have a Pfaff that has the capability of creating stitches so if your machine has the same capability, yes, you can create a big stitch.

I did a table runner. It was fun to do but I don't think I would do it on a whole quilt!

I have the Pfaff Expression 4.0 and you can achieve big stitch quilting somewhat comparable to hand stitching, by selecting the maximum stitch length. I have used it on certain quilts and I enjoy the look it creates. I find myself using it more and more.
Just play with your settings on a scrap sandwich. Good luck! |
