I made a bow tucks tote for my son's fiance and I've been thinking ever since about what am I going to use for the hard bottom? I was at Joann's and they didn't have any matting board and I kept forgetting about it when I was out.
I was just thinking of it again since I only have until tomorrow night and I took a look in a cupboard and saw an old binder. Light Bulb! Cut off the front and back and use them for the tote! I work in an office and there are always old binders everywhere that people are trying to get rid of. No shortage of supply there. |
Very clever :D:D:D

Necessity is the mother of invention, and quilters are noted for "making do" Can't wait to cut one up myself. Great idea, thanx

Great idea!!!

It worked great. The tote is 13" long and the binder is only 11" so I cut it in half lenghwise, overlapped the two pieces so that it was 13", and used permanent fabric glue to sandwich them together. A piece of lining fabric made a sleeve for it and it's wrapped and ready to go.

I bought a pack of 6 adhesive vinyl floor tiles. Cut one tile into three sections and put two of them back to back - no way that they are going to come apart, and they are firm and washable.

Both great ideas.
