Binding advice?
Can anyone recommend a video, book or even a class to attach bindings? I usually machine stitch it to the front, then hand stitch it to the back, however, I am not very happy with my corners, the mitered edge always seem to be rounded, instead of squared. Also, the binding doesn't seem to be filled properly.

Watch this video by MSQC:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0vCWpxBRs20 At 6:40 into the video, she will show you a different way to stitch the corners. I saw Patric Lose demo this on F&P Love of Quilting show (on PBS). The other thing that will improve your corners is to make sure the small fold on the back is laying in the opposite direction from the fold on the front. This will disburse the bulk evenly in the corner. |
A trick from garment sewing that you can also try is instead of making an 'L' shaped seam for your corner, make 2 small stitches across the top of your corner. Trim or grade the fabric and make sure you (carefully) poke out that corner before folding your fabric for the back-side miters.
