Binding before big stitch quilting?
 

I did straight stitch lines in a grid every 8 inches (also max distance for Dream Wool). I will be doing big stitch quilting around triangles and inside empty squares. Any reason I shouldn’t bind this before doing the stitching? I think it’s mostly decorative. By binding first , it would be more durable.

Sounds like it's pretty stable by now so I guess it would work out for you but I don't know what you mean by "it would be more durable". Maybe my brain isn't working yet :D

Do you big stitch with or without a hoop? If with, I would wait to bind it, you will need the excess backing to hoop the quilt to do the parts that are closest to the edge. If you quilt without a hoop you could bind it. I always wait until quilting is completely done before binding but your quilt is pretty well stablized that I don't think you will have any shifting. If you are concerned about the edges getting wear while quilting I always took my excess backing and brought it to the front and pinned in place to help protect the quilt edges when hand quilting in a hoop.

SusieQOH - more durable in that the edges would be finished, not losing batting along the way! I thought I would quilt while using it to keep me warm!
feline fanatic- what a great idea to pull the backing over and pin! That’s what I will try, I’m probly stitching without a hoop.
