They can be used for bindings but that is not their only purpose. They are made to hold fabric together so stay put on fabric. Clips for paper are made to hold paper better then fabric. I use them when matching seams, rather then using pins. I detest pins.

I tried the hair clips, they pop open too easy when I don't want them to when used for binding.

No they are NOT the Clover brand, but they work just as good
in my opinion.

Here is a link to the ones I purchased. I DO plan to buy more.
Amazon binding clips

I bought 3 packs of these and love them!! Two of the packs were for my DD's. One is using them for her crochet projects and the other will use them for her hand quilting projects.

My vote is for the smaller clips. They're a great size for doing binding! :)

I like using office style binding clips. I can fold the legs down so they don't catch my thread as I hand sew the binding down. I use the 1/4" size. They are also much less expensive than the wonder clips, if you are budget minded.

I have both sizes. Got them on eBay at a really good price...I think for the large ones they were about $8 for 48.

I have both sizes -- I like them better than the hair clips because they don't bend the fabric as much. I use the larger ones to clip pieces together after I cut them -- the larger clips are just big enough for me to put a piece of a sticky note on and label it. (like Block A, Row 1, ...)

I was a firm believer in hair clips thinking Wonder Clips were just another expensive tool. Then I found the ones online 50 for $9.99. Now I LOVE them. Hair clips can get knocked off but the clips are very secure. I ended up buying 2 sets of clips.
