Binding foot

Help. I like to machine sew my binding on using the binding foot, however I have such a terrible time getting it set up and started. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to do this easily? Any tips will be greatly appreciated.

I never use the binding foot. I use a walking foot and make sure I pin it on so it's even.

I glue mine, best thing I ever learned. I think it's Sharon Scrambler tutorial.

Hmmm I guess I will try glue with the next one, I hate getting stuck with the pins and I have clips but they feel heavy to me.

I sew my binding on with my 1/4" foot, walking foot not needed. To sew on the front I use a tool I got from Nancy's Notions.

There are many video tutorials on Utube you can watch on the subject. Just go there and put this in the subject search box. I did a few years ago and that is how I learned. It was fun to see the different ways people did theirs.

the add-on binding foot ads I've seen are for sewing on something like seam binding, not binding with bat sandwiched. When I do the binding entirely by machine I sew on the back first, flip to the front and use binding clips to hold in place and stitch right at the edge of the binding edge (next to quilt top) and it works find--either with walking foot or regular sewing foot.

Check out gluing the binding. Sew it on, flip, glue it down & press to set. Stitch in the ditch & you are done. Wash to remove the glue. I'm usually eager to finish & get on to the next quilt so this works great for me. It's also great for toddler/drag around quilts.
