So I am finishing up my second quilt ever made (yay me!) and I am having a problem binding it. I had it in mind to use a binding-less method, but it'd a dismal failure. Here's the problem: I already trimmed it down to finish it without a binding, but I think I may need to do one. How can I finish my quilt so it will look decent at this point?

I used to trim my quilts before I added the binding, so not all is lost.
Recommend a small zig-zag to secure the edges, then attach a binding. There are nice tutorials on the different methods. My favorite is the continuous double-fold. |
I'll have to give this a try...I haven't done binding before (my last quilt was binding-less but I used a different method than this time) so hopefully i can get it straight....LOL

How did you do a binding-less quilt? Do you mean leaving the backing a little bigger then folding it over the front and stitching it down?

Youtube has some really great tutorials on binding. I would look them up and find one that you think would work for you! Good luck!!!!

I always trim it down before adding the binding. I sew the binding to the right side of the top, turn it over and stich by hand.

I've been watching youtube now for a while. Good stuff! I think I might have an idea of where to go from here. I'll need to get more fabric though! LOL |

It's easier if you put the batting in at the same time. Put the back and top right sides together. Lay the batting on it and sew around except for the opening to turn. And welcome to the board.

Yeah I learned that after trying it her way the first time. It looks like adding the binding will be pretty easy even with it trimmed. *whew* I was worried I 'd ruined the whole thing. LOL |
