I have a twin size quilt I'm finishing, it is my first one that has been in progress since july of last year, am quilting it... already posted a pic of it a while ago on the board because I sort of had it done. What is the best way to do binding besides using the backing for it? I have some fabric that matches the quilting design sort of, and I was wondering, how many yards do I need? I have 1 but I can get more yardage today. So pretty much, how much yardage, and what kind of method do I want?
My dad's camera is not working today so I can't post a pic but it is red, and has a sort of http://images.google.com/imgres?imgu...%3D2%26hl%3Den like this design wise, only its one and its sort of haphazard..... so, let me know as soon as possible, I have to leave in like an hour and then its last chance pretty much.. |
One yard will do it! :D :D
First are you just adding a normal binding? If so straight of grain is fine. Line up with the edge and cut 2 1/2" strips (with the long line of the fabric). Once have cut... Oh about 8 or 9 strips. Then you sew them together draw a diagonal line and sew right on top of it as seen here: Trim the corner off, allowing for seam allowance: Press seam open, repeat until all strips are sewn on: Then Iron in half long ways and viola binding! |
