Binding question

Seems like I have gotten myself in a bind:shock:. I sewed the binding on the front of my quilt and all seems fine except for one corner. When I tried to turn it to the back to sew, it is short for some reason. Either I sewed too far when I approached the corner or started my stitching too high on the fold.

is there any way to correct this? I’m afraid to remove stitches for fear of a hole and I can’t stretch the fabric without distorting the whole corner.

Any help would be appreciated!

thanks,
Renate

Can you trim the batting? Might also be able to trim the fabric.

I really doubt it will make much difference. Now I’m beginning to panic a bit!

Can you post a picture of the corner? You can "very" carefully remove stitches. Realign and re-stitch. Again, "very" carefully.

Determine where/what the problem is first though. Is the binding placed too far out of the quilt edge? Did the seam line get too big at that edge?

Pay attention to the direction of the folds so you can repeat them when you re-stitch.

You can do this!

Not sure why you would not be able to remove the stitches?
It would be the same as frogging in other parts of your quilt.
Just go carefully at it with your stitch ripper, and re-do the corner.

I have had to redo corners when I first started making mitered corners. Anything can be unstitched and redone. It isn't fast and it isn't fun but, it can be done. Do it slowly and very carefully.

Have you thought about putting a 2nd binding over the first since you are hesitant to remove stitches at a corner?

Okay, you convinced me to give it a try! I’m going to clear the decks in my sewing room, (i.e. give myself a lot of space and run the cat out!j and DO this!

Update later and thank you for the support.

Put an extra light on where you're ripping. Good luck!

Sometimes mine is a teensy bit too short when i turn it to the other side, and I just trim the seam allowances on whatever looks like it's wider than the rest---or on all of the layers, if needed.
