I just got my quilt back from the long arm quilter & now I need to add
the binding. Do I sew the binding by machine onto the front & then turn it & hand sew it to the back, or machine sew it to the back & hand sew to the front? Thanks in advance for your help. |
If I am going to hand sew, I machine sew it to the front and then wrap it around to the back :D:D:D

Thats exactly what I do

Amma is correct.
I machine sew mine, so I sew on the back and wrap to the front--then stitch it down on the top. |

If it's a fancier quilt, I machine stitch from the front and hand sew to finish on the back. But I have made kid quilts where I want a durable and quick binding so I machine stitch to the back then flip it over to the front and use one of my machine's embroidery stitches to stitch down the front. Looks cute, esp. with contrasting fun thread and I think is more durable.

Machine stitch the front, fold over and hand stitch the back. Miter both front and back corners.

I machine sew it to the front and hand stitch on the back. If I want to do it all with my machine I stitch it to the back and use a decorative stitch for the front.
