I have just finished my first quilt. It was an exploding pineapple patter. I know this is dumb question, but do I add the binding to one side of the quilt before the quilting is done?

Do the binding around the four sides after the quilting and the sides are trimmed and the corners squared.

No. Completely quilt it, then do the binding. :) Hope to see some pics when you're done!

when it is all quilted you lay it out and square it (quilting takes up fabric just like applique-but more) so you square up the sides, corners, trim everything even then machine stitch binding to the front, fold over to the back and hand stitch down. some people machine stitch both sides...if you like that look

always do your binding last.
