if you sew the first binding seam at greater than 1/4 inch, then the blocks have to have a greater size beyond the completed pattern of the block. otherwise, you will be cutting off part of the block pattern
I put borders on my quilts. I sew the borders on with quarter inch seams and don't cut off any part of the blocks. Since my outside borders are generally 4 to 6 inches wide I can make my binding however wide I want. |
