Binding quilt with Minky backing

I just got a scrappy quilt back from my LAQ, so it's time to bind it. When I trim away the excess batting, I have 1/2" of the minky backing on all four sides. Is that enough pull up/over/around and use as a binding? Even though it shouldn't unravel, should I fold 1/4" under?

Thanks for your advice!

(I'll post a photo when it's finished:))

That may be enough if you don't turn it under. The bulk of the minky may make it hard to turn. Is the raw edge of minky a little rough? I have not used it but have heard this statement before

I wouldn't want to use the Minky as binding. Just too bulky.

I think Micky has a tendency to "shed" at cut edges.
