Binding with Silk thread

Have you tried using silk thread for binding? I did and I'll never go back to regular thread. It's strong, nearly invisible and doesn't tangle often.

Which weight did you use? I use a lot of light weight (100 I think) for appliqué. Love it.

that's something I'll have to try.

I have only used it for appliqué and do like the feel of it........I didn't realize it was strong enough for binding........calla

I would like to use it for the binding of the quilt I am currently working on. I've used cotton thread to piece it, but it's much too light a thread for the binding, while I do have the correct color in silk thread. But I've never used silk thread for a binding before. What size needle would I need in my sewing machine? Do I need to take smaller stitches than I do for piecing?

I have only used it for hand sewing the binding to the back of the quilt.

I do if I happen to have a silk thread in the right colour, it is so beautiful to hand sew with, I have also used Bottom line thread for my bindings and though it's not as nice to work with as the silk thread, it's not bad either.
