I don't know if it's standard, I do 2.5", which after folding and ironing is actually 1.25".

I typically cut 2 1/4 for my bindings.

I use 2.5

Mine is 2.5 as well.

2 1/2" seems to work best for me. I've tried other widths but always come back to this.

I make mine 2 3/4" . The extra 1/4 in = 1/8" when double folded and make turning easier.

Hi, I do 2 1/2" because I do a wider stitch 1/2 on my binding. This is where there is alot of pulling when in use and I want to make sure nothing pulls out.

I like my binding wide. so I cut usually a 5" strip and fold in half sew 1/4" to quilt and then fold over to the back. it ends op being around a 1" finished binding around the whole quilt. But it also depends on the size of the quilt that I am making. the smaller the quilt usually means thinner binding. I know that I am probably really really weird and totally in the minority here but it is what i like and you should play around with your widths till you find one you like best.

When you have a binding that wide, how do you trim your quilt? Do you trim all three layers the same, or do you leave the batting and/or backing larger than the top?

I've been using 2.5 and 3/8 inch seam.
