Morning ladies! I am binding a baby quilt and because it will probably be washed alot more than a regular quilt, I thought I would stitch to backside first then bring to front and use a decorative stitch on my machine. I usuallly do it the other way and hand stitch, but thought this would hold up better. Any tips?

Good idea. It should hold better and will look good too.

I have machine stitched it on the front first, rolled it to the back, pinned it over the stitch line, then sewed the decrative stich on the FRONT, and it will catch the back, I personally like to use the blanket stitch.

I machine stitch all of my bindings, because I can't hand sew after carpal tunnel surgery. It is just a matter of personal choice and preference. I have only used the backing a couple of times, but it worked fine.

Works wonderfully for me! And it looks good.

I do that on the Quilts for Kids ones that I do. Just pin really, really well and go slow. Otherwise I have a tendency to not catch the 'binding' all the way.

this is just the way i do it.

I have done it both ways. Just depends on time. I think that if you have the time and your stitches are tiny and the thread doubled it should be fine.
