I am very much new to quilting, I have done the march doll quilt, and I did the pull to the front, the one you said was easy, peasy took me all day to get those darn corners to match. :? :? God bless. Penny

What I have done so far , I have machine sewn the binding. Not to say I would not hand sew something that was calling out to be hand sewn!

I've done 3 on the machine and thus far prefer to machine stitch to the top and then hand stitch to the back as I can miter the corners better that way. Most of my quilting friends do NOT hand sew anything and do it all on the machine and theirs do look nice. I'd say it's personal preference and where your own talent tends to lie.
