That's better than what I did. I used a Sharpie and small ruler and just drew a line on my machine straight out from the needle. Of course it did not last very long.
i think I need to get some painter's tape! :)

Thanks for the awesome tip ... I am currently sewing a scrappy binding strip for a queen quilt ... About 416 linear inches of 2 1/2 inch strips cut from leftover scraps of the quilt. This tip will save me lots of time. Headed to basement paint supplies right now to find my painter's tape. So glad to be back on QB after 2 years of not posting/looking/learning!

Super tip but can I add my own to it, use small pin/s and pin one in the top right corner and one in the bottom left hand corner that way you don't have to worry about removing the pin.

I also love this tip as it adds to a tip I was given years ago for sewing a straight line, which has worked for me, look to where you are going to sew NOT where you are sewing, in other words look at the line on the tape NOT at the needle.

I started doing that after reading a tip about it somewhere and it really does work!
