I have been saving my thread spools (Coats and Clark large ones) for a while now and wrap my binding around that put a cord through the center and hang it around my neck makes it very easy to place binding where it needs to be.

I use the plastic box bathroom wipes come in, feed it up through the opening under the snap top- works great too. All good ideas for whatever you have on hand!

All great ideas! So much better than being scrunched on the floor which is what happens to me. Thanks!
|
I also use the paper towel tubes
|
Feffertim, thanks for the great tip.

I wrap the binding in a circle leaving the center big enough to pass my hand through. Slip in over hand onto wrist and let it feed off as I am sewing the binding on. Got tired of running over it with my chair!

I use a toilet paper core and knit an I cord which I put through the tube and tie around my neck. There are 2 tricks - 1 - wind the binding tightly around the core; 2 -turn the core while stitching on the binding or it will get tangled. I have used this method for large quilts and it is so much better than putting it in my lap.

Great ideas. I am going to use some of them today. Wish I had seen this years ago.

Thanks for these tips everybody....it beats what I've been doing and that is letting in drag on the floor, LOL
