Binding - What Kind of Thread to Use?

Hi,

The last time I was renting time on the long arm, the owner was saying how she prefers polyester thread to quilt with, because it's a sturdier thread and will hold up longer over time.

This made me wonder whether I should be using polyester thread when hand sewing the back to the binding on. I've always used the same thread that I have pieced with - cotton Aurifil.

I certainly want the binding to stay on for years to come. What do you use?

Thanks!

I use Aurifil for sewing and putting on my binding. I sometimes use another thread to quilt with though.

I use Connecting Threads Essentials 100% cotton for piecing and Metro machine embroidery thread to FMQ, for hand sewing the binding to the back, I use hand quilting thread.

I use either all-purpose poly/cotton thread or hand quilting thread.

Me also. Boils down to what I have handy and/or closest matching color.

I usually use the hand quilting thread so it won't get into any tangles as I am hand sewing.

That is such a great idea, since I always have that problem! Didn't even think about using hand quilting thread. Thanks! I will try that next time.
