I have the larger one and love it!

I love mine. As my arms get weaker, I find myself more and more dependent on the slidelocks. I have both sizes and use both. I also have the ruler but rarely use it because I use my June Taylor Shape Cut most of the time. The slidelocks work fine on top of any ruler I have tried them with.
I have not tried moving away the ruler and cutting against the slidelock itself.

PS: I got mine for Christmas last year the same way you got yours for your birthday. Sent DH the link. I think that is also why I got both sizes and the ruler. :D

Best quilting tool I have ever used. They are expensive so I watched for a sale, finally found one and ordered promptly. It is the small one as that was the only one on that sale but it is fine for cutting my pieces, however, I will be watching for a sale on the big one. By the way, Happy Birthday, you have a fine husband.

Don't you just love quilt-related gifts. I don't have these but they look very useful. Happy Birthday!
