Birthing

Could you brilliant QB people please explain what 'birthing' is? A term I've come across a lot lately and now I'm not so sure I'm clear on it. Thanks

It is a method of putting layers together without having to use a binding. For a quilt, lay the batting down, place the backing right side up, then the quilt top right side down. sew all the way around leaving an opening to pull the inside to the outside... ta-da! finished edges with no binding

I've used that finish many times for simple charity quilts but never heard that term for it.

Never heard the term either until recently. It's how I made some of my very first quilts nearly 50 yrs ago.
