I like adding black in with my brighter colors so I'm sure I have some. Love batiks.

I haven't really looked at it but I love black so why not? Maybe I'll check it out. I have a lot of solid black pieces though.

Yes I do!!

I just purchased black from batic tambal. I need it here and there for my art wall quilts. Yes you should have it in your stash. I'm going to be using mine this am on beaks.

Got to say out of all my Batiks in my stash ( alot) , I do not have a single peice that would "read" black solid. I do have a smaller collection of black batiks but they all have other colors to give them more character. I doubt that I would really use a Black watercolor like Hoffman ( 1895) or Kaufman makes. It would probably be my last choice. But I can see it having its uses , in limited amounts.
IF I did have an occasion to use it , believe it or not .... I would look for a true solid ..... and a poly blend ....a poly blend holds its color better than a 100 percent cotton. Can't tell you how many pairs of black cotton pants i have because they are not black ... really black for too long.

Yes I've used the "solid" black batik in a BOM that was using all bright batiks. At first I didn't know it was batik and when I compared it to a black Kona I could see the difference. It really did make a difference in the overall look.

rather than Raven which is more solid looking, you might try #4 Black. It has an undertone of another color.
When I use "black" batik I try to find those that have some under color. Hoffman did have one but discontinued that was black/cherry. Had a slight undertone of red., It blended with all colors and gave a sparle to the blocks. If I can't get that one then a black with undertone of dark navy works well.,

I got some black "hand spray" at my LQS and I love it. I have used it several times. It is black, but has some gray shading and gives a bit of movement to the fabric. I will buy more of that, I am sure.

Yup. I had three bolts now I'm down to one. When my LQS has a 40% off one item I get the bolt of black. Right now gearing up for a huge quilt featuring black bears. May need to get another bolt!!

I have black in my stash and have only used it to
do applique on. I used multi-colored thread to
quilt a dog quilt and it turned out so pretty.
(at least I thought so) take a look:
