Black on Black
I thought that I posted this earlier, but I don't see it. Sorry if I am repeating myself. I am hand quilting a black quilt using black thread. I can't see what I am doing! Any suggestions? I am far enough along that I don't want to take it out and use a different color of thread. Thanks.

The only suggestion I can make is to use a really, really good lamp or one of the lamps you wear around your neck with the magnifying glass on it. Good luck!

sit by the window in the day time...and use a lamp UNDER the work at night...

I hate working on black. It seems to be the worst for sewing on for me too. Can you run a little white chalk down the black quilting thread before you quilt with it? It would help it show up a bit and should brush off later?

Or mark the quilting lines in white or light chalk so your stitches will show up in the middle of the marked line.

I just finished a quilt where some was black on black. I used white chalk to mark it and as I quilted the chalk got on the thread and was fine to see. It washed out beautifully, and the faces I quilted are properly hidden, as intended :)

I recently machine quilted a black quilt with black thread......it is very difficult to see but at least I didn't see all my mistakes!
