Black on white and white on black

Several years ago I saw a quilt at a show that the fabric was black with white design. Then the other fabric was white with a black design. Beautiful quilt, took pictures of it and set out to collect the fabric. Now that I have a good collection of fabric I can not find my pictures.
Looking for suggested patterns. I am just a few projects away from wanting to start this one. lol

Cari, I really like your black & white quilt. The red for contrast makes it very striking. Well done!

Try mr. google and pinterest, you will find plenty there.

If you remember the name of the quilt show, they might have a website where you can look at quilts from past shows. You might be able to find your quilt that way. Many quilt guilds have archived photos you can look through on their websites. If it was a National show, you may be able to find a book with photos of the quilts in the show. I know those are sold each year at the Paducah spring show. Good luck!

Cari-I love your quilt and I agree with you putting the red in your quilt-it really makes it "pop".

You might try Quilt for a day, Eleanor Burns has a book, called "Day/night" I believe. Might even have a copy. Someone here can probably correct me if I am wrong with my senior moments of recall.

I love looking at these on Google Images, especially the log cabin with red hearth blocks and black with white logs on one side, white with black logs on the other. Very graphic!

Here is a black and white string quilt idea. I alternated white on black and black on white strips. I chose yellow for the lattice, but black or any color would work.

I too had collected white on black and black on white fabric, saw a disappearing nine patch with a red highlight and just loved it. Link attached below.
I made it using the basic primary colors of the rainbow....red, yellow, blue, green, purple. orange. It needs to be quilted and I can't find my picture, but will try to post later.
But another idea for you. The leftover black and white fabrics were cut into orange peel shapes and are ready to be made in to a orange peel quilt......when I get to it. sigh.....the list is long and time is short!

I made this black, white and red disappearing 9 patch several years ago.

The disappearing 9 patch could use a variety of fabrics. I do like the zig-zag that felinefanatic posted.

Hummmm, can't find the specific pattern I was thinking about. I'll keep looking.

I'm working on a black on white/white on black quilt right now, except I threw in a Chinese red for a bit of color. No pattern, I just cut 10" squares then sub cut 10x2 1/2" strips and 2 1/2" squares for triple sashing and 9 patches. Here are the rows laid out on my bed waiting to be sewn together.

Cari

Very pretty! A striking quilt! Love your fabrics and how you used them. The solid red as a stop for the eye is brilliant!

There is a Black and White Blog Hop happening later this month. I'm sure you'll see lots of possibilities in that. So that you have an idea of what will be posted, here's the link to the original post about the hop, when the organizer was looking for bloggers. I know there will be tutorials and giveaways from many of the bloggers. https://createinthesticks.blogspot.c...ack-white.html

I love making black and whites (sold 2 this christmas!!) and I usually add a bit of a primary color. I had not thought about using a cream/beige and soft yellow. Yours is wonderful - oops, another idea for the idea board - it is filling up so quickly.......
