I would now wait until it a FINISHED quilt. Washing a top has its own issues!

However I would do a TISSUE test on the fabric. Take a clean white hanky or Kleenex tissue and rub in various areas of the red fabric. Rub good...now look at the tissue..see any pink/red on it...IF you do then be sure to let the quilter know that you have a possible bleeder in there so she does not use anything "WET" to possibly remove markings, or to spray starch before quilting, etc....NO liquid must come near that quilt top..not even STEAM!
