Bleeding Fabrics
 

I am talking about the ones that will not stop putting out color - even after being treated with "everything".

I will try to return them If I have a receipt.

If I can't - I discard them.

Much as it causes me severe pain to throw away any piece of fabric larger than a one inch square - I will not put that fabric in a donation pile - because I think that it is just plain wrong to try to stick someone else with a problem that they may not be aware of.

What do you do with bleeders?

So far I haven't had any fabric that hasn't stopped bleeding after using Retayne.
If this happens then I guess I will have to throw it away. The cost of returning
fabric won't be worth it and I can't give something that's not good to someone else.

I'm with you. I've tossed them. Has mostly happened with reds. I agree that I don't want to pass it on to someone else.

I use bleeders in art pieces that won’t be washed.

I had a red that bled and bled -- and of course I had 3 yards of it because I loved the tone on tone colors. I tried everything but every wash it bled until there were patches that were an ugly gray-brown. Reluctantly I trashed it and cut my losses.

my only continual bleeder was a red in a kit that I didn't do anything with for a couple of years--I pitched it.

I've had a lot of reds that bleed and bleed again, until I treated them with the product I found online (Ritz Laundry Treatment - Dye Fixative). Once I treat fabric with that, it bleeds no more (I always test after treating it). If it still bleeds after that treatment, it goes in the trash, no question about it! But, truthfully, I've never had any that continued to bleed after I treated the fabric! I won't risk making a quilt with bleeding fabric!
