Has anyone used this design wall? I purchased one at a quilt show and am not having good luck with it. It has a sticky front and back - supposed to adhere to the wall. My blocks fall off and it keeps falling away from the wall. The Fons & Porter design wall which I purchased from JoAnns with a 40% coupon for $15 is far superior to this Block Butler which cost $60.

I just bought a F&P design wall. I had to take pictures off of a wall to use it, but it was a great purchase. Love it!!!

I am thinking of getting one of those that roll down off a roller, like a window shade.

I have a roller shade I found at Habitat for the humanity for $10.00 (6 feet wide!), I have the flannel, I have the brackets. Just need the glue to glue the flannel and make my own!!!!! I'm hoping it works, too!

I bought 2 sheets of 4'x8'x1/2" foam insulation at a building center for less than $10 apiece, fastened it to a wall for a design wall. I just pin blocks to it. I think I will cover it with flannel sometime. Plenty large enough to pin up the largest quilt I'll ever make.

I don't use a design wall of any kind, No wall big enough.

I just thumbtack a big peice of fleece/flannel on my wall.

I'm glad to hear all the comments about the Block Butler. I had been thinking about it, but now I won't. My old plastic tablecloth with the flannel backing has been working just fine.

the plastic tablecloth is what I use too. And, I have a Block Butler - unused.
A friend and I bought them at our LQS years ago. She put hers up right away and found it left residual glue on the wall.
I wrote several times to the company asking what they'd recommend to remove the glue - never got an answer.
Until I meet a wall I don't care about - mine will stay unused.

I'm glad to hear all the negatives about Block Butler...I have seriously considered asking Santa for one, but I hear no positives...The flannel backed tablecloth does interest me....was a grid traced onto it?

I think that those of us that use the tablecloth reversed do without a grid.
I've seen somewhere a tablecloth-like one that's made for quilters and has a grid on the flannel side.
Much more expensive than the other though.

I have had blocks on mine for weeks at a time; however, the blocks fall off the Block Butler in about 15 minutes. I think I will do as someone suggested and thumbtack a layer of flannel over it. Maybe I will just remove it and deposit it in the trash. I really don't want my wall to be sticky after its removal.

Okay, decision is made. Block Butler has been sent to the trash can. Today after arranging my blocks on it for about the 5th time in preparation for sewing the blocks together, they started falling off the wall before I could get to the third row. So I had to re-arrange again. I am replacing it with a Fons & Porter design wall I purchased at JoAnns yesterday for $12.50. It will join a Fons & Porter design wall I already had which is FAR superior to the block butler and much cheaper. If any of you are thinking of purchasing the Block Butler, check its reviews first. If I had done that, I would never have purchased this inferior product.
