Block Loc Ruler Love it!

I have had one for a long time and tried to use it once or twice and got confused. I put it up and basically thought it was smarter then I was. LOL I am making a lot of HSTs and some were not as square as I wanted after sewing. I used my Go to cut the shapes so they were fine it was all me getting them wonky. I got out the Block Loc and watched a few videos and started using it. Soon the AH HA moment happened. Now I love this ruler. My hsts are perfect size each and every one. So if you need something on your list for Santa add this ruler.

I have the half square triangle one and the flying geese one. Well worth the money.

I have several sizes of the HST ruler. I cut my fabric just slightly bigger, because I have found they usually end up wonky and the ruler fixes that :-) I highly recommend them :-)

I really like the HST. I had a hard time with it till I watched a video.

I love my Bloc Loc rulers!

I absolutely love these but they are expensive. You can make your own by putting a few thicknesses of painter's tape on the diagonal of a regular ruler. It works just fine.

I haven't tried to make a Block Loc but seems to me the ruler markings would be off as the channel is not set for the seam low side and if turned around then I messed up the hst. I want the no thinking ruler. I'd buy another if mine broke or got lost.

I have long wished for a Bloc Loc ruler, but was turned off by the price. Thanks so much for the idea Granchris. I think I have heard that before, but now I'm going to actually do it.

I had heard people talk about the Bloc Loc ruler and just thought it was another gadget I didn't need. I used someones at a sewing day. I loved it so much I pulled it up on my phone and ordered one right then. I love, love it. I need to order the flying geese one also. They are expensive but if you make HST much they are worth every penny.

Thanks for sharing this information. I will be checking out this ruler as I need all the help I can get. LOL

These rulers have intrigued me for a while - did not like the fact that a different size was needed for each trim. However when visiting a local quilt shop she demonstrated that if you purchase the 6 inch half square triangle ruler it is possible to trim all sizes simply by aligning the ruler - trim 2 of the sides then slide the ruler to trim the other 2 sizes. This is now my favorite ruler and the half square units come out perfectly.

I use the 6 inch one for all my hst. I rarely make any over 4 1/2 inches. I don't see the reason to have one for every size. I have the strip set one too. I will get the flying geese one when and if I ever sew any. Usually I make hsts for my flying geese.
