Block placement suggestions?

These are from a swap I did on another board. I really hate to go to all the trouble of putting strips between them, so wondered about sewing them together without sashing. I'll probably do a double border as these are 12" blocks. What do you think? And any advice as to placement would be greatly appreciated. This will be a charity quilt, so I don't want to put a lot of extra work into it.

Ooh.. I want to play with them! Bring them to me.

When I squint, I see that the four blocks in the upper right hand corner are all dark, while the middle blocks in the bottom two rows are all light. Maybe you could switch a couple blocks in those two groups around somehow?

I would bite the bullet and put a light color sashing between...it would set off and distinguish the patterns. Right now they all seem to merge into dark blocks. Not meant as offense...just mho. But your quilt-- your choice!

Personally I think you would have an easier job of putting those blocks together with a sashing & corner stones. Then a small border with the corner stone colour & a wider border the same colour as the sashings. You have some lovely blocks but they won't show to the best advantage without some definition between them. IMHO

If you are sure you don't want sashings, I think your layout of the blocks is fine, the way you have the 2 light ones placed looks balanced to me. Have fun!

well here's one I did with no sashings and no border. wish I'd at least added a border!

I think sashed with that cheddar orange would be pretty but it is your quilt.

Due to the size and colors I would do table toppers. Even with sashing, that would be too small for a quilt for me to keep.

I'm with Tartan, the cheddar color would look great on your quilt. Sashing would frame each block and keep them from running on with each other. The mind's eye tries to make a pattern and sashing says the block is the pattern.

i'd love to see sashings to show off each of those great blocks

Personally, I would put sashing between them, mainly to "lighten" up.
