Block quilt vs Strip quilt

I had planned on doing a queen size block quilt using hubby's uniforms...have most blocks cut out (15" right now, 1" seam) but I have seen several strip quilts that I think are different and very nice looking. Hubby said he doesn't care either way. So help me chose...Block or strip!

It will be using BDU, ACU, DCU, and old tshirts possibly.

And would you add the strips to a solid color or just make the strips the full top? I should stop looking at all the wonderful quilts or I won't be able to start mine. lol

you will have difficulty putting t shirt fabric with woven fabric. Not impossible but frustrating. Will probably have to add a fusiable to the back othrwise they will stretch. Strips into blocks will add more variety to the quilt top.

Rail Fence design.

I had read to put fusible to the back of the tshirts first so I had planned on doing that.

I had thought of a row of blocks, then a row of strips (maybe 7") then back to the blocks...would that look silly?

Not silly!!

You could also make the blocks and surround them with various strips to make them bigger. Your call, Girlfriend. Make it your own.

Well, I asked hubby and kinda showed him using the uniforms. He likes just the blocks and using a wide edge strip. So blocks it is...now for him to finish giving me the uniforms. lol He was on me for weeks about starting yet he hasn't given me all the uniforms I asked for. Men! lol

I'd like to see it when you're done. I have lots of bdus ne that they are phased out from the air force....

not sure what you mean...i use strip quilting to produce blocks.... you can't go wrong...whatever you decide will be nice, i'm sure...

It is one big block of his uniform, not strips to make the block. I was thinking of just doing long strips instead of blocks. But he likes the blocks better. Kinda like a T-Shirt quilt, I tried to cut blocks out so that his patch is on it or the pocket, etc.
