Blue Marking Lines

I'm quilting a table runner and used a blue chalk marking pencil to mark the stencil lines. How can I remove the lines after I'm done quilting? Doesn't seem to want to come off the fabric :-(

Does the marking pencil have directions to follow. Perhaps you need to wash the table runner.

If it's just chalk - i would think you might try a very soft brush....or toothbrush since it's a runner. I always wash my items after i'm done quilting, and any extra comes of then.

here's a previous thread on the subject http://www.quiltingboard.com/main-f1...p-t257550.html
hope it helps

Check the packaging but blue chalk is difficult to remove. I only made the mistake of using it once. I washed several times and most of it can out of the quilt but it still remains in the hand quilting white thread 25 years later.

I HOPE you didn't use Clover blue chalk. It is impossible to get off. I only use their white chalk which comes off easily. Always test EVER SINGLE MARKER on a test piece of the same fabric to make sure it will come off. I learn THAT lesson the hard way.

I have a new blue marking pin, have not tried it yet. The instructions say remove with water before you wash, because some laundry detergents have something in them that will or can set the blue color. Wonder if blue chalk could react the same?

anytime you use markers, always wash without detergent!!! if your marker doesn't come out, try Oxy clean. I got two year old lead pencil marks out with that.

Vacuum the piece? That might take some of it out. Worth a try.

Well, I guess I'll go "back to the drawing board"! I'm getting ready to quilt one of the small borders on a child's quilt and had tried a piece of blue tailor's chalk I've had for years on the stencil on a scrap of white fabric and since the piece is narrow, it seemed easy to do. Have it marked but not practiced with it yet so will be sure to try to get it off. The border is yellow so it would sure show up if it didn't come out. I only have 2 small pieces left so not much to try diff. markers on but I guess enough.
